Revelation chapter 13 ended with a description of the Antichrist and the False Prophet looking to be in full control of the world. The darkest evil has overcome every shred of hope. It is the middle of the terrible Tribulation; 3 1/2 years to go. But John chapter 14 hits the fast-forward button. Starting with Revelation 14:1 Jesus is with Tribulation survivors on the other side of the awful Tribulation. Jesus is the victor. Revelation 14 leaves the reader saying: "I would rather be on the side that seems to be losing now, but will eventually triumph - than be on the side that seems to be winning now, and will be damned for eternity."
